Children's performing arts classes: What the Petite Performers Program covers

  • Twinkles (45 minute class) is designed to help 3 year old children discover the basics of movement to music. If your child bops to the Wiggles at home then he or she will love this class where developing social skills and following basic instructions are encouraged.
  • Petites Stage 1 is the perfect introduction to dance and movement. Designed to develop children's musicality and coordination, combining stretch, jazz and basic ballet steps in a fun environment for those turning four this year.
  • Petites Stage 2 builds confidence, concentration and continues to develop pre-schoolers’ co-ordination with the introduction of basic jazz and tap.  This improves the children's rhythm and timing with the introduction of link steps and actions to form short dance combinations for children turning five this year.
  • Petites Stage 3 begins to challenge our young students' skills through more advanced stretching and jazz combinations. Through basic tapping technique, students will begin to develop their rhythm and timing, for children turning six this year. It is highly recommended that in this year the Petite Stage 3 class is combined with the first level of RAD ballet grades (Primary Grade.)
  • Pre-Primary Ballet is a 45 minute class for those turning 5 this year and introduces the RAD Syllabus of classical ballet to Stage 2 students.
  • Primary Ballet is a 45 minute class for children turning 6 this year and teaches the (Stage 3) Royal Academy of Dancing (RAD) classical syllabus. Students learn to be more focused in their training as they work towards doing an exam that will be recognised by the RAD, one of the largest and most infl uential dance education and training organisations in the world.
  • Singing/Acting/Acrobatics is a 45 minute combination class with the basics of drama and vocal techniques as well as tumbling and acrobatic work. Letting the kids express their creativity, the singing/ acting/ acrobatics combo is an excellent confidence builder and a whole heap of fun for anyone of Petite Stage 3 age (5-6 yrs.)
  • Hip Hop This 45 minute class is for all those who love to groove! This class is for 5 and 6 year olds and is a great way to encourage your child to move and appreciating rhythm and dance.
  • Boys Hip Hop - for young boys (4-6 years) who really want to get the moves. This class is fun but structured with basic hip hop moves set to exciting dance music. (45mins)

  • I wanted to say thank you for doing such a great job with my girls. Your job isn’t easy and I have seen for myself what you have to do and go through in class. My girls absolutely adore you (Miss Nadia) and Brent Street are very lucky to have you. My husband asks why we don’t look for a dance class closer to home, it has never crossed my mind. For what you have done with Mia in a year and how you are developing Ava...I believe the girls are in the right place to be developed and also have fun. I thought I better let you know how much we have appreciated the dedication you give to not only my girls but to all your students.

  • Holly loved the class with Ruby last Thursday evening and is very excited about joining Brent Street. The school has a great  energy about it and staff and parents were very friendly. Thanks, Louise

  • My daughter loved it (petites trial), so I signed her up & she will be back next Monday at 4.30! Regards, Tory

  • Thank you – I just wanted to say as a ‘first time’ mum with a 4yr old doing her first ever year of dancing – it was a very well-organised concert rehearsal, very slick operation and therefore very reassuring!
    Cheers, Anita
